As an American school, our educational philosophy is based on a modern approach to learning. Our focus is on the student’s part in the learning process, as well as his or her full potential. We want to equip students with the abilities, problem-solving approaches, and analytical thinking tools they’ll need to function at the highest levels of society and achieve their own personal goals of being the best version of themselves.
Students are encouraged to learn on their own. Rather than giving them material to memorize, students are encouraged to be proud of their uniqueness and to enjoy their Palestinian culture and heritage. Only in this manner will we be able to prepare our children to be well-prepared citizens of the future, ready to assume their places.
In high school, students must earn credits (one credit per course per year) in English, Mathematics, Sciences, Social Studies, and Languages. They must also choose from a wide variety of courses in fields such as Engineering and Technology. All BAS students work towards earning the American High School Diploma (AHSD), which is the document awarded for the successful completion of high school at the end of grade 12. Once a student has successfully achieved the minimum requirements, they will receive the American High School Diploma that will serve as the foundation for their college education and admissions. This prestigious high school program is accredited by American educational agency, North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA-CASI), which is internationally recognized for its work with international schools. Obtaining this degree reflects the solid academic foundation that a student has acquired at BAS, thus, allowing university admissions officers a better insight into our students’ academic experience and proficiency levels.
Elementary School (1-4)
The elementary school program is designed to provide the fundamentals of reading, writing, math and science, which will ensure our students’ future academic success. We stimulate each child’s curiosity and creativity with interactive learning and a wide variety of educational experiences both inside and outside the classroom.
Middle School (5-8)
The middle school program of study is rigorous; we offer leveled English and Arabic, as well as an after school study hub program, to support our students. In middle school, we build a strong foundation in the sciences and mathematics, leading to specialized classes, such as Robotics and Technology.
